Behind the F1 Glamour

The Hidden World of Event Setup and Management

When you catch a glimpse of the Formula 1 action in Melbourne, what captivates you? Perhaps it’s the vivid red of the Ferrari team, the sleek, high-speed racing cars gliding across the track, or the dazzling presence of celebrities mingling in the paddock. And let’s not forget the electric excitement of watching drivers like Dan Ricciardo tear up the circuit.

But here’s a peek behind the curtain: at Find Me Labour (FML), we see an entirely different side of the event. Imagine this: 56,000 temporary Grandstand seats, a series of elegant hospitality marquees, the intricate team garages, bustling merchandise booths, and miles of crowd control barriers. Add to that temporary bridges, extensive signage, and a whole lot more.

All of this infrastructure meticulously assembled by industry professionals over the a four months period, spanning a 5.029km track and supports a thrilling four-day spectacle. The setup isn’t just impressive; it’s a complex, orchestrated operation that ensures everything runs smoothly.

Once the final car crosses the finish line, the excitement doesn’t just fade away. Instead, it sparks a whole new phase: the careful dismantling and packing up of all that hard work. It’s a process as precise as setting up, showcasing the behind-the-scenes choreography of a major event like the F1.

Find Me Labour was designed with these exact needs in mind. While FML wasn’t yet up and running for this year’s F1 event, our official launch on July 1, 2024, will have given us six months of invaluable field experience. This hands-on experience is set to be a game changer for suppliers and organisers gearing up for next year’s F1 extravaganza.

So next time you’re cheering for your favourite driver or marvelling at the spectacle, remember there’s a whole world of preparation and coordination happening behind the scenes, where every detail is meticulously managed to ensure the show goes on.
